She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on July 21, 1946, the daughter of the late Thomas and the late Alma Doris (Mims) Turner.  She met and married Tyrone Howard Sr. From that union her only son, Tyrone Howard, Jr. was born and was the joy of her life.

Sister Howard was also a member of the St. John-Josie D. Heard A. M. E. Church, formerly known as St. John A.M.E. Later, she became the Assistant Superintendent and then Superintendent, and the Y. P. D. Director.  In addition, she was a dedicated member of the Unity Choir, Steward Board, Trustee Board, the Susan Lucretia Johnson Missionary Society, and Pastor’s Aide.

Sister Howard was a 1964 graduate of Conshohocken High School.  She then matriculated to Temple University to pursue and obtain a degree in Early Childhood Education.  She was also a Daycare Teacher, a Technician for RDL Inc. and C & D Battery. Grace was also a former employee of Vocational Rehabilitation Services, where she enjoyed being a Job Developer.

Sister Howard enjoyed reading, writing poetry, attending Broadway shows, movies, shopping and going to dinner. She also enjoyed collecting earrings, redesigning old jewelry, and making sure her nails were kept in a most excellent way.
