Ed was the one guy among our group of church friends who always seemed to have two or three projects going, was considering another, and would drop everything to come help you out if you asked. He was an outstanding woodworker - anyone who has built things know that chairs are among the most difficult to build. so many different angles and pieces that all have to fit together exactly for the project to work. Ed built several, and they are all beauties.
He loved a good laugh and would proudly tell some of the corniest jokes I'd ever heard. He loved good food, fun games, the company of friends, and most of all his dear wife Betty Jane. Ed was one of those people that just cherished all the joy that life could give him and was willing to spread the joy whenever he could. Our lives have been richer for knowing him and we will hold close our fond memories of Eddie.

One day Eddie made a small boat in his own basement. We took it up to New Hope and carried it to the Delaware River to launch it. It was almost square and so heavy we christened it the "USS HERNIA". It floated beautifully, but sank with both of us in it! Eddie and I had crazy stuff like that happen to us on occasion; it was always fun! I shall miss my friend, "Eddi-o".

Betty Jean… I’m so sorry to hear of your loss of both your son and husband within a couple weeks of each other. We always loved to see you and Ed dancing together at rounds and squares. Ed always had a smile and a warm greeting for us when we’d see him. Our square dance community will be feeling the loss and, for sure, sending heartfelt sympathies, care and prayers. May you have God’s comfort and sustaining peace as you journey thru grief. Holly and Jason Rorex

Mr. Green was my wood-shop teacher 37 years ago at BC Middle School. I already loved wood working through my grandfather and family but Mr. Green took it to another level and could tell we were cut from the same cloth. I still remember him calling me over to show me a corner desk he had built and how proud he was with how well the drawer fit (it fit perfect by the way). I still have the lamps that I made in his class in my home today, and I think of the pride he had in his desk anytime I make a great cut or build a tough project. Yes I still woodwork on a weekly basis. My thoughts are with the family, he was a great man.

I knew Ed for the past 23 years as a substitute teacher. He always smiled when we met, and I don't think I ever saw him in a bad mood. As a substitute, he covered for me often. We shared a love for woodworking, and he would always tell me about the projects he was working on. Sometimes he would bring a small project in to school to work on in my lab during his lunch break. I'm a better man for knowing Ed. He was (and still is) and inspiration. He will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family. Grieve well. -Mark Piotrowski
