Obituary of James T. Picard, Jr.
James T. Picard, Jr., age 89, of Norristown, PA passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023.
He was born on July 25th 1934 in Norristown PA to James Thomas Picard, Sr. and Sarah Ronca Picard. He was a proud Norristonian, who was born, raised, worked, lived and died in Norristown. He was born into a large and happy family in the East End and had wonderful memories he loved to share about those days. He was an altar boy at Holy Saviour Catholic Church, attended West Catholic H.S. in Philadelphia, and graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelors degree in Economics.
He spent his entire professional life in Real Estate and became a leader in the field. In addition to having his own real estate broker business, he served as the the President of the Montgomery County Real Estate Board of Directors-Sales Person Division and later became one of the top residential appraisers in Norristown and the surrounding counties.
Jim was a leader and shared those skills with many organizations. In addition to being very active in the Evangelical Church of the Trinity as the Council President he was instrumental in moving The Evangelical Church to it's current location, Fairview Village.
Jim was also part of the group that started Penn Christian Academy, again in Norristown where he served as President of the board.
Jim was an intellect, well read and enjoyed chess. He was also from a young age the master of the accordion. Not an easy instrument to master. There are many fond memories of Jim entertaining family and friends with his playing.
Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years Susan Picard (nee Williams) his 2 daughters Margaret (Meg) Pritchard (nee Yetter) and her husband Jim, Kristin Kelly (nee Picard) and her fiancé Christoper Costigan, James Picard III (Kim); 4 grandchildren Madeleine Picard Pritchard, Olivia Russell Pritchard, Emma Rose Kelly and Jack Thomas Kelly.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Mark Paul Picard.
Jim was a kind, patient and loving husband, father and grandfather and much beloved by his extended family and numerous friends and loved by Buddy.
The picture of Jim would not be complete without mentioning his love of Philly sports, especially the Eagles and the Sixers.
Jim's memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 1:00 PM from Trinity Lutheran Church, 1190 Valley Forge Road, Fairview Village, Pa 19403.
