Obituary of Margaret M. Rayca
Margaret M. Rayca of Flourtown, PA, passed away peacefully at the age of 99 on Thursday, October 12 surrounded by her loving family. She resided at St. Joseph Villa for the past 5 years. Margaret lived her life to the fullest and treasured her family and friends.
She was born in Misericordia Hospital in Manhattan, New York on February 24, 1924, the beloved daughter of the late Patrick and Margaret (Morris) McManus.
Margaret met the love of her life, Benjamin T. Rayca, and they were married on September 2, 1944 at St. Jerome’s R.C. Church in the Bronx, New York. She moved to Philadelphia when Ben returned home from WWII.
Together they raised a beautiful family: Robert (Janis) Rayca of Williamsburg, VA; Bernard (Kathryn) Rayca of Philadelphia, PA; Margaret (James) Ganter of Plymouth Meeting, PA; the late Douglas Rayca; Bernadette (Luke) Shrader of Maple Shade, NJ; Susan (John) Longino of Conshohocken, PA; and Joan (Joseph) Fassano of Newark, DE. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren, whom she cherished. Margaret also leaves a host of very dear nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Along with her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin in 1990 and her son, Douglas in 2008, as well as her sister, Teresa Rayca and brother, John McManus.
Margaret’s family would like to express their sincerest gratitude for the heartfelt love and exceptional care she received from the staff at St. Joseph Villa. Their kindness will always be remembered.
Her funeral Mass will be held Friday, October 20 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel at St. Joseph Villa, 110 W. Wissahickon Ave., Flourtown, PA 19031.
Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Thursday evening, October 19 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 300 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, PA 19428 and on Friday, October 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. in the Chapel before Mass.
Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Villa, 110 W. Wissahickon Ave., Flourtown, PA 19031 or the Oblate Sisters of St. Francis de Sales, 399 Childs Road, Childs, MD 21916.
