Obituary of Anna "Cyrene" Terranova

Anna “Cyrene” Terranova was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 26, 1945. She passed away peacefully with her family all around her on October 10, 2023. She resided in Jeffersonville, PA.

She was the beloved daughter of Salvatore “Tony” and Lucy (Boccuti) Terranova of Jeffersonville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Terranova and great niece Bryana.

She is survived by sister-in-law, Rosanne Terranova, sister, Connie (Michael) Giuffrida, brother Tony (Debbie) Terranova, brother, Frank Terranova, sister Lois (Robert) Walinchus, and 10 nieces and nephews: Salvatore (Michele) Terranova, Michael (Tara Lynn) Terranova, Tara (Adam) Smith, Trever (Tiffany) Terranova, Brian Terranova, Carla Roberts (fiancé Michael), Lia (Kenneth) Huber, Lucia (Kyle) Thayer, Lesley (John) Walinchus-Foster, Matthew Walinchus (fiancé Sabrina).

She was a 1964 graduate of Bishop Kenrick Catholic High School in Norristown, PA. She is also survived by her 16 great-nieces and nephews:Salvatore, Santino, Zachary, Emily, Lily, Mikayla, Jenna Rose, Damien, Dante, Logan, Molly, Cleopatra, Concetta, Winston, Nicholas, and Calvin.

In 1965 at 18 years old, she owned and operated Cyrene’s Hair Stylist for over 40 years. She was licensed as a Cosmetologist and Cosmetology Teacher in the state of Pennsylvania.

She was the first salon in the area to service men, women, and children with ‘No Appointment Necessary.’

She mentored many women at her place of business and supported their careers. She even encouraged them to start their own business.

She also owned a beloved residence in Wildwood, New Jersey since 1981.

Aside from her career and business savvy, she had a heart of gold towards those in need, especially anyone going through tough times. For example, she helped women experiencing domestic violence. She provided food, babysitting, sometimes shelter or even a weekend away at her shore home, accepting nothing in return.

She was also known for providing free haircuts to those seeking an ‘up to date look’ for a job interview.

She brought joy to those around her. Her favorite place to be was at the Jersey shore.

Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing in Church on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Francis of Assisi RC Church, 600 Hamilton Street, Norristown, PA 19401.
