Though we first met Lou Farrell in Pennsylvania, it was in Vero Beach, Florida that we cultivated a bond of true friendship. Everyone has friends with whom they dine and toast and laugh and share stories, but not everyone has friends whom they profoundly admire. Lou was a man to be admired. His faith and his beliefs were not ever to be shattered., His strength of character was remarkable. His moral fiber had diamond strength. He was beyond generous, and astoundingly forgiving. Our shared times always left us in a glow. We can spill out our crème de menthe now; Lou was the only one who had a favorite cocktail that included it. He was a classic. Our lives are better for having known him. May he hear beautiful music eternally.

My father was a determined man who carried himself with real class. He worked extremely hard for his family. He was always busy, whether it be an innovation of some sort or simply mowing his rather large "lawn". Idleness, was not a part of his life. He was an avid reader, a private pilot, a boater, and a music lover. He loved all of the Big Band classics...Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra and Opera too! He loved Luciano Pavarotti and Leontyne Price. His love for this music filtered down to my brothers and sisters and even his grand children. My daughter Sofia is studying classic voice (Opera) at a Music Conservatory in NYC. My dad was a wonderful role model for me, personally. I recall when I was "class clowning" in grade school and not putting in my best efforts, he sent me to Valley Forge Military Academy. I complained in the beginning about not being able to see "my friends". My father always taught that my closest friends in life would be my brothers and sisters. He was right! He was right about this and many, many other things. When I was growing up, my dad was all business. He was not a regular church goer. That seemed to be my mom's department. That all changed however, thanks to my mom. She prayed and prayed for him. He had an amazing miracle happen to him, which led him back to the church. While he was private in nature, he leaned on our Lord for guidance, and received it. As the song made famous by Frank Sinatra goes, "I did it my way", well for the most part, he did it his way! I will miss him greatly! He is a true inspiration to me. Jesus, Mary & Joseph - Pray for us!
