Obituary of James A. Cassel

James A. Cassel of East Norriton, Pa., age 68 of East Norriton, passed away on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 at his home in East Norriton, Pa. Born in Norristown, Pa. on June 30, 1944, James has lived in East Norriton since 1976, formerly of Norristown and Jeffersonville, Pa. James was a graduate of Norristown High School Class of 1962, and Dickinson College in 1966 and Temple Law School. He worked as an attorney with a private practice in Norristown for 11 years before going to work with the legal department of a bank in Philadelphia, Pa., retiring in 2006. He served with the Board of Directors for Farm Park Preservation Association, and on East Norriton Historical Advisory Commission. He enjoyed sailing, playing tennis, and going to the beach especially Ocean City, NJ where he had a summer residence. He is survived by his wife, Diana (Loretto) Cassel of East Norriton, Pa.; a daughter, Tracy (Darryl) Brophy of East Windsor, NJ; a sister, Linda Cassel Raughley of Jeffersonville, Pa.; and three grandchildren: Kelly, Connor, and Katherine. James was predeceased by his parents, Joseph C. and Mary (Anders) Cassel. His Memorial Service will be held on Thursday Jan. 10, 2013 at 12 p.m. from the Moore & Snear Funeral Home 19 East Germantown Pike East Norriton, Pa. 19401. The Rev. Richard Olson, II will be officiating. Friends may call on Thursday morning from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home 19 East Germantown Pike East Norriton Pa. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Fox Chase Cancer Center 333 Cottman Ave Philadelphia, Pa. 19111.
