My youngest brother, Jody, was many things. He was a fixer, mechanically talented, and he was your go to when you needed something fixed, built or moved.
I remember when I had my first car accident, hitting a tree two blocks from home. I ran home and up the stairs to find Jody to come fix it.
But what I will always be most grateful for is our family vacations; hours on the beach, water balloon toss games, ocean fun, competing riding waves and riding the kayak after lifeguard hours. Our road trips and Disney World were full of great memories too. Our vacations kept us close and allowed all the cousins to grow close as well. He loved being a grandfather and would call me often to brag about some brilliant thing his 1-2 year old grandson did.
Our family lost you too soon and I will selfishly miss him not being a part of the next chapter in our lives.

I grew up with Jody. He was my boyhood friend. We used to try to get away with everything. I smoked my first cigarette with Jody, walking the trolley tracks in Drexel Hill. I took my drivers license test at age 16 in Jody's Father's car, a 1966 Plymouth Fury III. We used to sleep out in the tool shed (the shanty), in his backyard. It was our own little world. I could go on boring you with a hundred stories like this, but I won't. We remained best of friends to this day, and reducing to a few sentences my memories of life with Jody is very difficult.

I'm very grateful for the time that I personally got to spend with Jody. I learned valuable hands on lessons, how to entertain guest, how to show up for family, and the importance of holding on to silly gadgets to entertain a small child :-) More importantly he believed in me enough to care for, and marry his only daughter (Colette). I'm so blessed that we were all together in November for one of the happiest days of my life. His ability to work hard, mentor, and educate was unparalleled. A piece of Jody will forever be in my heart and I will cherish all the memories. Thank you for all the good times :-) Rob O'Keefe

i loved uncle jody. he was my dad’s best friend. as the oldest stewart cousin, i got the benefit of the most uncle-time with him. i'm lucky for that. he was a trusted and gentle person in my life. he used to take all the cousins on nature walks. i'll never forget the nature walk at glendale park when he dropped his wallet and it started floating away.
