I have such fond memories visiting my Uncle Nelson while in from California. He was always such a gentle, warm soul that loved spending time with family and friends. Nelson would also come out to California to visit for Thanksgiving or Christmas, and he brought wth him a special family connection to our Philly roots. Nelson was always able to share a story about our family or my parents that provided a glimpse of the Williams family history.

Sending warm wishes to the family of Nelson Williams. He was a great mentor during my tenure at the Berman Museum of Art at Ursinus College and a friend for over 30 years. His curatorial and writing skills were amazing and the David Ellinger theorums and paintings and Dr. Bronstein 's Pennsylvania Folklife collection exhibitions we worked on together were wonderful and popular installations. A gentleman and a scholar with a great sense of humor and infectious laugh...he could turn out in a flannel shirt as elegantly as he did in a tuxedo. I will always remember him with great affection.

I first met Nelson when he and Lisa Tremper Ellinger borrowed several David Ellinger paintings from me in 2009 for a retrospective at Ursinus. I have treasured my relationship with Nelson ever since. He was a wonderful person and a wonderful friend. I will miss him very much.

It is such a comfort and a pleasure to read so many memories that people have shared about Uncle Nelson. He led such a rich life.
Uncle Nelson was my mother’s youngest brother and the last surviving member of his siblings. He was a staple at our holidays, family gatherings, and milestones in our lives as I grew up. He became our family “elder”, especially after my Dad passed away.
As an adult I grew to appreciate him more, what an interesting and multifaceted man he was! And in his elder years I spent more quality time getting to know him and hear his many interesting stories and memories.
During the time he lived at the village we had many lunches together either at the Bistro or enjoying one of his favorite cuisines, we had his 93rd birthday party at the Persian Grill, one of his local favorites! He did love to eat!
How I will miss those opportunities in the future.
We should never take our loved ones for granted and treasure the time we can spend with them.
Rest In Peace Uncle Nelson.

I became friends with Nelson through our mutual good friend, Adele Boyd, who taught at Ursinus College. Although Adele and Nelson worked in different areas of the College, they enjoyed each other's company and lunched frequently with other colleagues.
When Nelson moved to the Masonic Village, Adele and others began a tradition of monthly Tuesday lunches there. When Adele died in 2018, I was invited to join that group, and became friends with Nelson.
Those luncheons were so much fun! Nelson's dry sense of humor took a bit of getting used to, but I soon came to appreciate his decency, gentleness, intellect and wit. Even though he became frailer, his mind stayed sharp as a tack. I was so sad to hear of his passing and will miss him. I hope we can continue the lunches to honor his memory.

Travel with Nelson was a treat. We have vivid snapshot memories in all the countries we visited, restaurants, sitting outside watching the world go by. He always had a twinkle in his smile, his laugh was infectious. We think of him often with great affection.

We cherish memories of wonderful and fun times spent with Uncle Nelson and will miss our Sunday afternoon phone calls.
Fifty years ago Nelson gave us the following advice when Roger and I got married: "Remember always to take time to be kind to one another." I still have his note, and this reminder is perhaps Nelson's most significant legacy to our family. We always remind each other to remember what Uncle Nelson said. Thank you, Uncle Nelson. We will miss you so much.

Nelson was one of my favorite table mates when he was in retirement living at Masonic Village. His quiet demeanor and very special sense of humor kept us entertained many evenings at dinner. We missed him when he moved to assisted living. He often spoke of his family and especially enjoyed his family and visits in and to California. I am very sorry for you loss. Blessings to you all.

My condolences to Nelson's nieces and nephews.
Nelson and I were friends from the time that I began working at Ursinus College in 1975. When I left the college in 1985 he visited Ruth and me in Pittsburgh and Long Island until we returned to Philadelphia.
Nelson and I frequently walked the Ursinus campus after lunch and viewed the many construction projects that were underway, especially the restoration of the Victorian dormitories on Main Street. We also were traveling companions with theater groups from Ursinus and Glassboro to Canada, Great Britain and Italy. He had endless stamina in exploring historic sites, museums and flea markets. What fun we had traveling with our friends.
Professionally Nelson shared with me this wealth of knowledge and experience as a respected administrator. Nelson was respected by students, faculty, staff and fellow administrators alike. I treasure my memories of our times together, including the monthly Ursinus luncheon group at Masonic Village. I will miss my friend.
