Obituary of Nancy C. Dimitt

Nancy C. Dimitt, age 89, of Lafayette Hill, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Spring Mill Presbyterian Village.

 

She was the daughter of the late Oris and Ruby (Riegle) Dimitt.  Nancy was born on January 10, 1931 in Kokomo, Indiana, where her father Oris owned Dimitt Dairy and Ice Cream Store.

 

Nancy graduated from Kokomo High School in 1949 and went on to earn her Associates in Arts Degree from Christian College, Columbia, Missouri in 1951.  

 

Nancy married her beloved husband, the late James T. Dimitt on January 10, 1953.  

 

The two of them would start their family Kokomo, where their son Tom was born in 1956 before moving to Tucson, AZ. Nancy's brothers Phil and Bob lived there as well during this time. Nancy and James returned to Kokomo, Indiana where their daughter Elaine was born in 1959.   They then moved to the Roxborough section of Philadelphia in 1960. From there, Nancy and James moved to Plymouth Township in 1970, where their daughter Joyce was born in 1971. Nancy spent her later years living in Lafayette Hill, PA and for the past two years resided at Spring Mill Presbyterian Village of Lafayette Hill.

 

Prior to her retirement, Nancy worked as a secretary and in office settings for Lit Brothers, then J.C. Penney until 1996.   She then worked as the Receptionist at Green Valley Country Club until 2016.

 

Nancy was a faithful member of Plymouth Valley Baptist Church, now known as Storehouse Church.  She was also a member of the Whitemarsh Lioness Club.

 

She maintained life-long friendships and enjoyed playing bridge with a tight knit group of friends from her Roxborough days.

 

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Dimitt.  

 

Survivors include her son, J. Thomas (& Patricia) Dimitt of Stuarts Draft, VA;

two daughters,  Elaine (& Peter) Mickelson of Lafayette Hill, PA and Joyce Dimitt Horn of Philadelphia, PA; 

and six grandchildren, Justin Dimitt, Wesley Dimitt, Derrick Dimitt, Krista Mickelson, Caroline Mickelson, and Jack Mickelson.

 

Nancy is also survived by three great grandchildren, Easton, Ella, and Emilia. 

 

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, J. Wesley Dimitt, Richard R. Dimitt, Phillip W. Dimitt, and Robert M. Dimitt.  

 

Due to present public health concerns, services will be delayed.   A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.  Please check this obituary for service updates.  

 

Nancy will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Westminster Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, PA.  

 

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions made in her name to: Storehouse Church, 1090 Germantown Pike, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.  Contributions in Nancy's memory would be put toward local charities helping the needy in the local community.
