James J. Clarey
James J. Clarey, 89, of Audubon, PA passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020.
He was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 6, 1930, the son of the late Edward J. and the late Anne M. ( Stranick ) Clarey.
James graduated from St. Thomas More High School of Philadelphia, class of 1948. Upon graduation he was awarded a scholarship to LaSalle College, but subsequently, as a member of the National Guard Reserves, was called to activity in the Korean War. James served in the US Army where he received the United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star. Upon his return, Mr. Clarey enrolled in Villanova University and graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. Mr. Clarey then studied and earned the title of Professional Engineer, and he enjoyed his entire career in this profession at the Philadelphia Electric Company. He was the lead Engineer of Construction at the Limerick Nuclear Power Plant in Pennsylvania, working in partnership with Bechtel Corporation of California.
He retired after a successful career and moved to Arizona with his wife. Upon returning to the East Coast, they settled in Virginia. In the end, Jim was a Philly guy and returned to his hometown.
He was the husband of the Late - Barbara J. ( Laughner ) Clarey.
Survivors include, Daughter Kat Dunleavy of South Carolina, Son James P. Clarey of Phoenixville, Daughter Jacquelin (& Jim) Keyes of Audubon, Sister Anne (& Richard) Sawyer of Bethlehem, also survived by his grandchildren Corinne, Kayla, Amber, Conor, and Jimmy. As well as nieces Denise (& David) Lewis, Susan (& Mark) Ortiz, Laura (& George) Mateyo and Janet Sawyer.
His Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 10:00 AM from St. Teresa of Avila RC Church, 1260 S. Trooper Road, Audubon, PA.
Friends may call on Tuesday morning from 8:45 to 9:45 AM at the Church.
Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.
