Obituary of Elwood Whalon

Elwood "Ed" Whalon  

Elwood "Ed" Whalon, 93, of Lafayette Hill, PA passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2020.

He was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 15, 1926, the son of the late Leslie and the late Lillian ( Barsuglia ) Whalon.

Ed has lived in Lafayette Hill, PA since 1956, formerly of Philadelphia where he was raised.

He was an active member of St. Philip Neri RC Church of Lafayette Hill, PA.  Ed served in the US Navy during World War II, as a gunner on a carrier-based TBF Avenger and received the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Ed oversaw corporate Printing Services at Sperry Univac of Blue Bell, PA.

He was the husband of the late Mary ( McCarrick ) Whalon.

Survivors include, son Edward (& Diane) Whalon of Vestal, NY, daughter Mary Ann (& Mike) Bovell Plymouth Meeting, Pa, daughter Eileen (& Jim) Behr Lafayette Hill, PA,Son Thomas (& Anne) Whalon Audubon, Pa, Son John (& Eileen) Whalon Doylestown, PA, son Michael (& Colleen) Whalon Conshohocken, PA, Daughter Trysha (& Darren) Haile of Oreland, PAand a brother, Ernest (& Florence) Whalon Cherry Hill, NJ.  Also survived by 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Along with his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a sister Elaine and a brother Robert.

His Funeral Mass will be held Monday, February 24, 2020 at 11:00 AM at St. Philip Neri RC Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA.

Friends may call on Monday, February 24, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the church. 

His interment will be private in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Conshohocken, PA.  

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Veterans Monument Foundation of Whitemarsh - Post Office Box 616, Lafayette Hill, PA 19444.
