Obituary of Michael J. Reed

Michael J. Reed, age 65 of Conshohocken, passed away on Sunday June 30, 2019 with his family by his side. He was born in Elkhart, Indiana on September 6, 1953 and was the eldest of 7 children. He was the son of the late Stanley and Harriett (Wysong) Reed. Mike was the beloved husband of Paula (Schwartz) Reed for 43 years.

He graduated from Fairfield High School, Goshen, IN. and resided in Conshohocken since 1980. Mike served in the US Navy Air, National Guard, Coast Guard, and Navy Reserves.  He served during the Vietnam War Era and received the National Defense Service Medal and Republic of the Philippines Presidential Unit Commendation. Mike was a proud member of the V.F.W. He worked at Elliott & Frantz in King of Prussia, PA. as a Heavy Equipment Technician. He was an avid car enthusiast, outdoorsman and most enjoyed spending time with his family. There wasn’t anything Mike couldn’t fix. He devoted many years to Conshy Little League, Cub Scouts, Soap Box Derby, his daughter’s Equine Events, and baseball.

In addition to his wife, Mike is survived by their children Robert Paul and wife, Amy Reed of Conshohocken, Stephanie Michele Reed of Conshohocken, his grandchildren Rian and Mitchell Reed, and sister-in-law, Lugene (Schwartz) Venia.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Paul Stephen Schwartz, mother-in-law, Catherine “Cass” (Hemcher) Schwartz, and father-in-law, Paul V. Schwartz.

His service and interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mike’s memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tenn 38105.
