It has been my honor to know and love Betty Tolan for nearly 45 years. I spent a lot of time inside the Tolan home on West 9th Avenue in Conshohocken in the 70s and 80s - invited or not! - and was always made to feel like a member of the family by Bud and Betty (every flock has a Black Sheep!). Together, Bud and Betty raised a remarkable family that is their proud legacy. Those six kids, all amazing people, gave Bud and Betty a slew of grandkids who then gave them another slew of great-grandkids that made every holiday celebration a mini-Woodstock Festival. I need name tags to keep them all straight. Although I'm saddened by Betty's passing, I am comforted knowing she lived a long, loving and fulfilling life. She's now reunited with Bud in Heaven and that makes me happy I'll always be able to close my eyes and see Betty's smiling, beautiful, quintessentially Irish face and hear her gentle voice. Bud and Betty, allow me to say it one final time for the many annoyances I caused you over the years, I'm so sorry. Until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
