Obituary of Frances E. Mathis
Sister Frances E. (Weaver) Mathis was born on Tuesday, August 11, 1930 in Cold Point, PA.
She was the daughter of the late Roy Weaver and the late Annie (Coleman) McDaniel Weaver.
An Angel embraced her spirit and took her Home on Tuesday, March 26, 2019.
After living in Conshohocken, for many years, she settled in Lafayette Hills, PA with two daughters and her Grandson, Quindarius, where she was always surrounded by loving family.
Sister Francis was a faithful member of The Historic St John African Methodist Episcopal Church
from Childhood. She served as a Steward, Stewardess, member of the Susan Lucretia Johnson Missionary Society, Food Cupboard Ministry, Pastor’s Aide Society, The Tuesday “Intercessory Prayer Fellowship” and The “Hot Pot” Kitchen Committee. Her rolls, fried chicken and sweet potato pies were prize winners.
She was consecrated a Deaconess in May of 2014. The highest office held by a lay person in The African Methodist Episcopal Church.
Deaconess Mathis was a loving wife to her husband, the Late-James L. Mathis. She worked with Extracorporeal, Norristown State Hospital, Marshalls Department Store, McDonald’s Restaurant, and retired from RDL. She enjoyed relaxing spending time drawing and painting beautiful works of Art.
She is survived by her children: Mary Goins of Conshohocken, PA, Joann Mathis-Lee of Lafayette Hills, PA, Yvonne Beatty of Lafayette Hills, PA and Tammy Cottom of Anderson, South Carolina.
Also survived by ten Grandchildren, Twelve Great Grandchildren and six Great Great Grandchildren.
Along with her husband and parents, she was proceeded in death by three children: Stephen Mathis, Benjamin Mathis and Annette R. Beatty. Three Siblings: Mary Anderson, Hilda Scott and Luck Weaver.
Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 starting at 11:00 AM at The Historic St John African Methodist Episcopal Church, 100 East Eighth Avenue, Conshohocken, PA 19428.
There will be Time for Family and Friends to gather at the Church from 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM.
The Memorial Service will be officiated by The Reverend Edith J Patterson-Payne, Pastor
Interment Will Be Private.
