Obituary of John Emory Harkins, Sr.

John Emory Harkins, Sr. age 53, of Eagleville, passed away on Friday October 5, 2018 surrounded by his wife and children, after a courageous battle with cancer.

John was born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania on December 23, 1964, son of Rita (Lavan) and Joseph I. Harkins, Sr.

Son in-law to Jerry and Bev Cantrell of Worcester, PA.

He met the love of his life Mickey (Cantrell-Larkin) at their local swim club at the age of 16, then reconnected years later. The two married in 2009.

John was "Daddy" to Katrina and John Jr. "Jey" Harkins, and best Step Dad ever "Johnny" to Kristina and Robbie Larkin.

John was the youngest of 6 children, he is survived by brothers Malcolm (Maura) Harkins of Maryland, and Joseph (Cornota) Harkins of Drexel Hill, and a sister Mary Beth (Scott) Daniels of Maryland. He is also survived by many Nieces and Nephews, whom he loved very much. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Tommy & Patrick Harkins.

John worked at Carvision in Trooper, PA with those he considered his second family.

John enjoyed going “down the shore” every weekend with his family and loved his trips to the Florida beaches with Mickey several times a year. He also enjoyed spending time adventuring in Philly with Mickey and the kids, watching the Eagles and Flyers, gardening, and playing with his Pitbulls Thunder and Lightning.

His Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, Oct 10th at 10:00 AM at St. Teresa Of Avila R.C. Church 1260 South Trooper Road, Norristown, Pa 19403.

There will be a visitation for relatives and friends on Wednesday Morning, Oct 10th from 8:45 to 9:45 AM at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Harley's Haven Dog Rescue, 1419 Ridge Road, Perkasie, Pa 18944.
