Obituary of Marie H. Woodward Bowman

Marie H. Woodward Bowman, age 78 years, of Conshohocken, passed away on Sunday September 30, 2018 at Jefferson University Neurosciences Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa, with her family by her side.  Marie was born in Conshohocken, Pa on Monday January 8, 1940, daughter of the late William H. and the late Marie E. (( McCarthy)) Bowe Woodward.

Marie was born and raised in Conshohocken, Pa.  She graduated in 1958 from the former St. Matthew's High School in Conshohocken, Pa.  She was a proud member of St. Matthew's High School All Girl Marching Band, as well as a member of the choir. Marie was also a member of the former St. Matthew Grade School Home & School Association, as well as the Archbishop Kennedy Grid Club, and a volunteer for the CCD prep Program at St. Matthew's Church.

Prior to her retirement, she worked for Montgomery County as a Judicial Secretary to the Honorable Richard S. Lowe. 

She also worked part-time at the former Sacred Heart Hospital and Montgomery Hospital in Norristown, Pa as well as Norristown Orthopedics Association.

Marie is Survived by her children Karen Bowman, Raymond Bowman and Ellen (& David) Thomas all of Plymouth Township.

She was the loving grandmother to Kerri Rose Marie Thomas & Shane Patrick Thomas.  Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

And her life long friends Carol, Carol & Cass, she truly valued their friendship.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by brothers James (Elizabeth) Bowe, Francis Brigham(Florence) Bowe, and Joseph (Marie) Bowe

along with her sisters, Marie Elizabeth Bowe, Teresa Bowe (Donald) Hine, and Anna Jane Woodward.

Marie loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She enjoyed spending vacations at the beach recently in Ocean City, MD but her heart was always in Brigantine, NJ.  

Marie was an avid sports fan and her favorites were Notre Dame Football and Villanova basketball.

Marie was very proud of her Irish hertiage and the fact that she was able to travel to Ireland. #irishstrong.


Her Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, Oct 4 from 10:30 AM at St. Matthew's RC Church 219 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, Pa 19428

There will be a viewing on Wednesday, Oct 3 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, Oct 4 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, Conshohocken, PA 300 Fayette Street, Conshohocken.  Services will be officiated by Fr. J. Tom Heron.
