Obituary of Robert P. Donovan

Robert P. Donovan of Conshohocken passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 21, 2014, with his family at his side. He was 77. He was the loving husband of 53 years of Joyce (Chendorain) Donovan. Born on May 18, 1936, he was a son of the late Andrew and Emma (Smith) Donovan. A lifelong Conshohocken resident, he was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church, and he was a 1954 graduate of the former St. Matthew's High School of Conshohocken. Robert was a composer with the Norristown Times Herald, retiring in 2007 after 56 years of employment. Besides his wife, Robert is survived by his daughters, Dawn Williams, Joanne (and her husband, Tom) Popowicz, Barbara (and her husband, Ken) Shainline and Joyclynn (and her husband, Tom) Reynolds; his son, Robert Donovan Jr.; grandchildren Allison Williams, Nicholas & Steven Popowicz, Victoria & Kristina Hallman, Robert Donovan, Earl Hoisington and Abigael & TJ Reynolds; three great-grandchildren; his sister Marian Donovan; and his sisters-in-law, Marge Donovan and Margaret Donovan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his brothers, George, Francis, Andrew, Thomas and Paul Donovan; and by his sisters Rita Ashton and Martha Rubert. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Robert's Funeral Service on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at 11:00 AM from the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 300 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, Pa. The Rev. Bryan Penman of St. Mark's Lutheran Church will officiate. Friends may call on Tuesday morning from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Matthew's Mausoleum, Conshohocken, Pa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that everyone spend more quality time with your family.
