All three of my sons had Dave in 5th grade. He made their move to middle school, which was scary for them, easy and fun. I have worked with Dave off and on for years in the middle school and have never known him to be anything but upbeat. Dave's car was always the first in the parking lot, and we knew if it was missing (which was seldom) something was wrong. I will miss his smiling face. He was an asset to Upper Merion Area Middle School, and he will be missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. I am sure his students part and present will miss his charismatic way of life. He inspired many and will continue to for years to come. To his direct family, stay strong, yes it is very difficult to do. I don't mean be the person without tears and close the door on your feelings in a week. STAY STRONG in the fact that you will face many challenges, many unknowns, and most certainly many memories that shake you to the core. These are the days you have to say and know strength is the only way thru these turbulaent waters. I know personally how you and your family are feeling I am 1 year 3 months of the day my husband passed. Please remember to lean on friends and family. Those of you reading this please in a a week, then 2 weeks then a month and so on check on this family they need that support whether they asked for it or not!! HUGS to this family!! Prayers sent for all!!

David took care of his mom and me. He brightened every life he touched. David was probably the ideal dad, husband and son. A person the rest of the world would strive to be like. I will miss him greatly. There will never be a day I will not think of him. After my first son Michael was born my wife and I wanted another. Ellen lost two pregnancies so to have Dave she has was almost bedridden for nine months. Ellen was so happy to have a second son. Two perfect boys. Now we have only one. But David's legacy is in his children. They must be why David was put on this earth. If they are like their dad, the earth will be a better place.

Andy and I are at a loss for words. Dave was truly the best. His love for everything, his caring and kindness was such an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He would always lend a hand to whoever needed it, no questions asked. He was larger than life and was simply amazing. To Wendy, Katie, Justin and Luke, our love goes out to all of you. Please know that we are here for you.

Cousin David, I am writing this post in complete shock, filled with heartache. You were truly one of the kindest people I have ever known. Your laugh, smile, generous heart, intelligence and loyalty will never be forgotten. I have hundreds of memories of our summer days in Harpswell. I used to count down the days until your family arrived every June. Rock forts, kick the can, flashlight tag, the spring, Boseys Rock, rafts, stovers beach, ice cream at the Dolphin, chatting until all hours, the purple sand beach, great times with Allison, Matt, Brett and Wendy, Sunday dinners on the porch with the entire family. I will sooooo miss seeing your smile coming up every August to visit and grab a lemonade with your beautiful family. Love you Cous!!!

Dave was truly an outstanding individual. Just recently, I sat next to him in an in-service at school and we talked about his running and his Mud run for MS. He shared with me his love of running and we shared a laugh or two. I also know him as an educator, and the fourth graders telling me about the awesome math teacher they have in 5th grade when they would come back to visit. I know how much he enjoyed taking the kids camping and they enjoyed it as well. You have made an impact on so many lives Dave; you will continue to live on in our hearts and memories. Prayers for strength and love for his family, friends, running community and co-workers. Peace Dave!

Mr. DeRosa was the best teacher any kid could ask for. He was the best part of every school day, and the reason school was an amazing place to be. He brought every lesson to life and made each and every student feel important. I feel very lucky to have had him as a teacher, and he inspired me to study education. He truly will be missed.

No teacher touched Noah and Jordan's lives quite like Mr. Derosa. He was there for them in every capacity and checked in on them after they moved on from his class. One of Jordan's best memories is running the Taco Run with her favorite teacher. This is a huge loss for the entire community. We send so much love to his family during this difficult time.
