Obituary of Albert S. Kantra
Albert S. Kantra, 86, of Phoenixville, PA passed away on May 7, 2018.
He was born in Perth Amboy, NJ on January 21, 1932, the son of the late Andrew and Mary (Kadash) Kantra.
Albert has been living in the Rivercrest Golf Community of Phoenixville, PA since 2005, formerly of Chippewa Twp., PA. He was a member of Saint Eleanor RC Church of Collegeville and a former member of Christ the Divine Teacher in Beaver Falls. Albert was a graduate of Bucknell University where he earned his Bachelor's Degree then went on to pursue his Master's Degree from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He retired after a 35-year career as a Merchandise Manager with Sears, Roebuck and Company.
He enjoyed golfing with family, and with friends from his real estate networking group. In addition to golfing, he enjoyed skiing, basketball, tennis, and reading. He honorably served our country with the U.S. Army. First and foremost, Albert was a true family man.
He was the beloved husband of the late Trudy Kantra.
He is survived by his son: Albert S. ( & Leslie) Kantra, Jr. of Aurora, OH;
two daughters: Trudy Ann Kantra of Phoenixville and MaryBeth ( & Brian) Wilson of Collegeville;
His brother Andrew ( & Ann) Kantra; sister-in-law, Phyllis Kantra,
four grandchildren: Elizabeth Jean, Jason, Brisa, and Luken;
as well as several nieces and a nephew.
Along with his wife and parents, Albert was preceded in death by his sister, Loretta ( & Armand) Cuiffo, as well as his brother Robert Kantra.
Albert was fortunate to have special caregivers in his final months and the family would like to thank Lynn, Dan, Trudy2, Isha, Mary, Monica, and Kimberly for their kindness, support and dedication. He was also blessed to be under the care of Dr. Marylou Checchia-Romano, DO and Dr. Andrew Bowman, MD over many years.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018, at 10:00 AM at St. Eleanor's RC Church, 647 Locust Street, Collegeville, PA 19426.
Friends may call on Thursday evening, May 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 224 West Main Street, Trappe, PA 19426.
Interment will take place in Washington Memorial Chapel Cemetery, Valley Forge, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: the Corrine Hare Scholarship Fund, 362 Vista Drive, Phoenixville PA 19460 (Albert followed young Corrine's courageous battle with osteosarcoma) or the American Cancer Society.
