Edmund C. Lavan
Edmund C. Lavan, 90, of Lansdale, PA passed away Sunday, November 3, 2024.
He was born in Bryn Mawr, Pa on August 3, 1934, the son of the late James and Marie (Mellon) Lavan.
Ed grew up in Conshohocken with five other siblings, was a 1953 graduate of St. Matthew's High School. He was a proud Eagle Scout with St. Matthew's Parish Boy Scouts who continue to work with the boy scouts leading and encouraging other young men after graduation.
Along with his two brothers, he served in the US Navy. Following the Korean war, he received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon, and Navy Occupational Service Medal.
Upon the conclusion of his naval service, Ed worked for 30+ years as a steamfitter with Steamfitters Local #420.
He met his wife, the late Dorothy M. ( Gramlich ) – aka. Dot, on a blind date and was smitten. They married and lived on 7th Avenue in Conshohocken for several years, then moved to Red Rambler Drive in Lafayette Hill in 1966. He was a member of St. Philip Neri RC Church of Lafayette Hill as well as a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus in Conshohocken.
Ed and Dot enjoyed many activities together including bowling, gardening, traveling/cruising, and spending time with their family and friends boating and fishing down the Jersey Shore.
Survivors include, Son Thomas (Vibeke) Lavan of Cotacachi, Imbabura Province, Ecuador, Daughter Cheryl (David) Luxton of Flourtown, Daughter Dotti Snyder of Wyndmoor, Daughter Lisa Lavan of Hatfield, Daughter Patti (Matthew) Taylor of Harleysville, Brother Thomas Lavan of Drexel Hill, also survived by his Grandchildren Chase, Arianna, Joshua, Daniel, Sarah, Jordan and Paige.
Along with his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a grandson Cole, brother James Lavan and sisters Sally Hickey, Rita Harkins and Marie Waters.
His Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM from St. Philip Neri RC Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA.
Friends may call on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at the church.
Interment will take place in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Conshohocken, PA.
