Uncle Jimmy was a real life angel. He was the most selfless and loving person that I have ever met. His kindness was infectious and his love for his family was unconditional. He will be so missed, especially at Christmas. He never missed a holiday or birthday for anyone. His stories from youth told by my Mom and her brothers revealed these traits, and I know they are memories that they will all cherish forever. We are all blessed to have known him and I hope that we can all be more like him as we go through life. Rest in peace to Uncle Jim ❤️

Uncle Jim was a beloved icon in our hearts and minds. I know from family photos how he was a paragon of fitness and charisma in his youth, of compassion and gratitude in my lifetime, and of unlimited love and generosity always. His love and legacy are humbling shoes to fill for me and for us all.

i will remember uncle jim as someone who loved his family dearly, cared deeply for others, and (in the words of my mom) was a real life santa claus. his unwaivering generosity and kind spirit, despite the battles life threw his way, is inspiring. i will remember him the most on christmas day, and it gives me peace knowing we gave him a special last christmas with everyone together once again. rest in peace uncle jim <3

Jim was always recording our family…of course at holidays and birthdays but even just at regular family get togethers. All his recordings we meticulously labeled and preserved. What a treasure he has given to us to be able to go back to all the good times we shared. His family was the world to him and he loved us unconditionally.
Jim loved all of our children like his own. I have so many photos of him holding and loving our children. And when they were older he always asked about them and worried that they were okay. Jim never missed a birthday no matter how old you were. He would call months in advance to confirm your actual birthday and address and talk about what he was getting the person. Jim didn’t have a lot to give but no matter what his family was getting something from him. I would tell him that he did not have to worry about giving anything, but he insisted and once Jim had his mind set there was no changing it. A thoughtful card was included always saying “Love your Uncle or brother James”. He was just a beautiful example of a good human being. It was the simple things for Jim…love and family. He didn’t have an angry, resentful or mean bone in his body. We will miss you so much Jim….rest easy my sweet and loving brother. ❤️ Gina

Every year, he would begin after Halloween to shop for gifts for the cheerful Christmas evening dinners you and Bill gave. He would carefully wrap each persons gift and keep them under his tree. This year was no different despite his cardiac condition worsening and his limited ability to go shopping. Every week I saw the gifts accumulate under his tree. For sure, he was not going to miss his baby sister's event and to spread cheer with his family that was so beloved to him.

Whether giving a home to multiple stray animals in our youth, looking past family strife to encourage peace, loving new additions to our family, or helping needy strangers at the bus station. Really..Jim actually opened his apartment to shelter and feed two lost souls down on their luck he met at a Septa bus station just a few years back. When asked why he would take such a risk with strangers. He said it was late and they were crying and seemed desperate for help. He said they reminded him of old friends but lost like the stray animals he would rescue as a kid. They lived with him just a few days. He opened his apartment letting them sleep ,shower and eat what they liked. He even gave them what little spending money he had remaining for the week so they could purchase bus tickets. In appreciation, they gave him one of their backpacks with some belongings they thought he would use. He said they thanked him but never returned.
To my knowledge, it is the only time he offered his home to complete stranges. Previous roommates, friends and family were well acquainted with his kindness and generosity.
But this was a first for me to realize his compassion over looked risk. I found in time that my cautionary advice on helping total strangers changed to profound respect for him.
Jim, your gentle kindness will be missed.

When I was a struggling college student, he insisted on buying me my dream christmas gifts because he saw me working hard and encouraged me that rewards in life are coming. He was so right.
Without any academic skills himself, he selflessly encouraged me in my education and to greater successes. Never once complaining of his setbacks and failures in life. I grew to realize over the years that his subtle acts of kindness and support demonstrated a true heart of gold. That was his real treasure. Only to have the lord kindly take him home by that gentle treasured heart he possessed.
You will always be in our hearts!

My big brother demonstrated by example how to rise above the challenges of life to see the good and be the good to everyone and everything. His love and affection for family was compelling as he would regularly spend the last of his weekly pay and all savings to buy surprise gifts for his daughter, nieces, nephews and siblings as long as they joined in joyful celebration with him. Even through his illnesses and hospital stays, and when the worst news of his survival arrived, he took it in stride focusing instead on pictures showing his nieces and nephews accomplishments. Then talking on the next holiday or birthday surprise he would give to his beloved family.
Selfless and without a complaint, his heart failed him but his love did not.
Rest in gentle peace my brother and friend.
Your "little" brother "Johnny"
