Obituary of Joan B. McShea

Joan B. McShea (NEE Donoghue) age 92, of Plymouth Meeting, PA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 16, 2022.

She was born in the Mount Airy section of Philadelphia, PA on September 18, 1929, the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Theresa Marguerite (O'Hara) Donoghue.

Joan lived most of her life in Plymouth Meeting and was a parishioner of Epiphany of Our Lord RC Church.  She enjoyed reading, spending time at the beach but most of all she loved being with her family.  

She was the wife of the late James E. McShea, Sr.

She is survived by six children, Barbara (Tony) Lowe of Harleysville, James (Barbara) McShea of Lansdale, Timothy (Michele) McShea of Trappe, Kathy (Brian) Rafferty of Harleysville, Rosemary (Jerry) Kilpatrick of Harleysville, and Mary Pat McShea of Blue Bell; 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  

Along with her husband and parents, Joan was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Shannon Kathleen Rafferty; and siblings, Joseph Donoghue, Margaret "Peggy" Coupe, Rosemary Costello, Helen Trampe, James Donoghue and Betty Gallagher.  

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral Mass on Monday, August 22, 2022 at Epiphany of Our Lord RC Church, 3050 Walton Road, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462 - Visitation from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM and her Funeral Mass will be held immediately following the Visitation at 11:00 AM.  

Interment will be private and held at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Shannon K. Rafferty to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
