Eleanor M. "El" Mercadante
December 9, 1946 – November 3, 2025
Eleanor Marie “El” Mercadante, 79, of Plymouth Meeting, passed away peacefully the morning of Monday, November 3, 2025.
Born in North Philadelphia to William Eisner and Helen (Podleski) Eisner, El was an only child who built a beautiful extended family through her marriage and lifelong friendships. After graduating from Little Flower High school, she married the love of her life, Earle, and together they built a home in Plymouth Meeting where she dedicated herself to raising her family - a role that brought her much pride and purpose. At the age of 43, she devoted the next 23 years to Plymouth Elementary School, where she worked as a beloved lunch aide known for her kindness, humor, and familiar smile. She was rooted in the community and was a large part of the St Paul's church and would also spend a lot of time at the Plymouth Little League baseball fields.
She had a playful spirit and found happiness in the simplicity of every day — a cup of Lipton tea, word search puzzles, poker games with the girls, scratch- off tickets, shopping (especially at Rice's Market), and trips to the casinos for the slot machines. Her Christmas sugar cookies became a holiday staple, that everyone looked forward to. She loved music, her favorite Fleetwood Mac and she never missed her favorite reality TV and crime drama shows.
She is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Earle, and her dear son, Eric, who both held special places in her heart. She is survived by her loving children, April and William, and her cherished granddaughter, Mia, who brought her a renewed sense of love & happiness.
She will be remembered for her warmth, her sparkle, and the laughter she shared so freely. Her spunk and "street smarts"made her quick-witted remarks part of her charm. Her strong love & roots of family, friendship, and fun will live on in all who knew her. Forever in our hearts.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 12th, 2025 at 10:30 AM from St. Paul's RC Church, 2007 New Hope Street, Norristown, PA 19401.
Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Wednesday, November 12th from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at the Church.
Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Paul's RC Church Memorial Fund, 2007 New Hope Street, Norristown, PA 19401
