Obituary of Daniel T. Wolper

Daniel T. Wolper, age 93, of East Norriton, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017. He was born in Norristown, PA on October 10, 1923, the son of the late E. Michael and Dorothy G. (McGarry) Wolper. Dan was a life-long Norristown resident and has been living at Brightview Senior Living in East Norriton for the past five years. He was a member of Saint Patrick Church in Norristown, where he volunteered for many church activities, and he was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He also volunteered at the soup kitchen at St. John Episcopal Church for many years. Dan was a steel worker with the former Alan Wood Steel Company in Conshohocken, and also worked for the U.S. Postal Service. He honorably served as a Sergeant in the Army Air Force during World War II, and as a Staff Sergeant in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Daniel was the husband of the late Constance E. (Campbell) Wolper. He is survived by six daughters, Peggy (& Keith) Gerhart of East Greenville, Connie (& Michael) Salazar of Wyncote, RoseMary (& Martin) McKelvey of Havertown, Joanie Wolper of Dorothy, NJ, Claire Wolper of Conshohocken, and Mary Louise Wolper of Conshohocken; two sisters, Dorothy Wolper and Maryanne Marks; three brothers, Thomas, John, and E. Michael Wolper; as well as ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Along with his wife and parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor Shackleford. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 10:00AM at St. Patrick Church, 714 Dekalb St., Norristown, PA 19401. Friends and family may call on Thursday morning from 9:00 – 9:45 AM at the Church. Interment will follow at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Ambler, PA.
